Most activities at tent area - Downtown Cedarville (unless otherwise specified)

*Snowsfest buttons required for all events. One (1) free coffee or hot chocolate at the Snowsfest Concessions in Hessel for anyone wearing their Snowsfest button. Buttons = raffle tickets, and your chance to win a $1,000 LCI Shopping Spree, overnight stay on Drummond Island or flat screen TV!

**Get your Snow Buddies at the Les Cheneaux Welcome Center! Enter your snow sculpture or snow buddy in our decorating contest by calling the Welcome Center at (906) 484-3935 or email lcichamber@lescheneaux.net

Take advantage of Michigan’s FREE FISHING weekend by participating in our Snowsfest Fishing Contest! No license required for fishing on February 16-17.

2013 Snowsfest “Adventures of the Sea” Schedule of Events

Thursday, February 14

8 am: Pike and Perch Fishing Contest Begins (sponsored by Islands Wildlife & Les Cheneaux Chamber of Commerce) through dark on Sunday, Feb. 17. Cash prizes for top three fish in adult and youth divisions, with $100 Grand Prize in adult division for largest pike and perch. $10 adult & $5 kids registration fee. Must register before fishing. Register and measure fish at Cedar Pantry and Hessel Grocery. Winners will be notified by phone on Monday Feb. 18. 

 


Friday, February 15
4:30 pm: Registration for Cardboard Sled Races opens!! Races at 5 pm. Everyone welcome, and great cash prizes for all age divisions. Races at the Les Cheneaux Community Schools sledding hill in Cedarville, behind the school near the playground on Hilltop Drive, directly east of the school. If you’re not racing, come cheer on your favorite sleds!

 

5 pm: Snow Statue and Snow Buddy Judging – Must be registered by 4 p.m. to be judged. Register by calling 484-3935 or email lcichamber@lescheneaux.net. NO window judging – sorry.
 

1 to 7 pm: Les Cheneaux Community Library Book Sale at the Library on Hodeck Street, Cedarville. 

 

Evening: Snowsfest Pub Shuffle – visit Bumpa’s, Cattails, Hessel Kewadin Casino, Islander, Runway, and Snow’s to vote on your favorite bar. Ballots are available at each establishment. Must visit all establishments and complete entire ballot for votes to be counted. Themed costumes encouraged! 

 

 

Saturday, February 16

At the tent and downtown area: 
**NEW** Presentation on Frost Bite and winter safety tips by the Girl Scouts!!

- We welcome back the lovable Leader Dog Exhibit and puppies - noon - 2 pm

- Welcome back Horse Drawn Hay Rides – donations welcome. 11 am - 1 pm

 

7:30 to 11 am: Pancake and Sausage Breakfast – at Les Cheneaux Community Schools cafeteria. Served by Les Cheneaux Snowmobile Club. 

 

9:30 am: Registration for Kitty/120 Races in the Snowsfest tent on Hodeck Street. Laps and races on Cedarville Bay ice. Drivers meeting at 10:15. Racing begins at 10:30! 

 

10 am: Snowman Burning & Ceremonial Blessing of the Snowmobiles by Pastor Bree Johnson of Bethel Lutheran Church, Cedarville. National Anthem also sung by Bree Johnson. 

 

10 am to 4 pm: Les Cheneaux Winter Makers Market at the Clark Township Community Center, Cedarville. Over 23 vendors selling handmade fiber arts, cupcakes, stone art, laser engraving, felted items, barn wood art, stained glass, gourmet baked goods and much more! 10 a.m. to 3 p.m: Les Cheneaux Community Library Book Sale continues at the Library on Hodeck Street, Cedarville. 

 

11 am: *NEW* Cedarville Vintage One-Lunger Snowmobile Races, at Taylor’s Pit north of Cedarville on M-129. Registration 11 am until 1 pm, followed by races in consecutive order. Stock and mod races for kids, old men, ladies, and 2-ups, and regular stock and mod races. More info at “Cedarville Vintage Stock Race” on Facebook. 

 

11 am to 2 pm: Hot Dogs and Hot Drinks Concession in the Snowsfest Warm-up Tent in downtown Cedarville. Your Snowsfest button gets you one free hot chocolate or coffee! 

 

11 am to 2 pm: Chili Cook Off: Commercial and Individual divisions. Chili entries MUST be at the tent between10:30 am and 11 am. Spectators can taste test and buy tickets to vote for your favorite chili! Prizes for “best” in the commercial and non-professional divisions, plus special Hot Stuff and Chili Chick awards! Sponsored by First National Bank, Les Cheneaux Branch. 

 

11 am: *NEW* Les Cheneaux Sportsman’s Club Trap Shoot - $4, everyone welcome, at the LC Sportsman’s Club east of Cedarville. 

 

11:30 am to 1:30 pm: Poker Run Registration in the Snowsfest Tent in downtown Cedarville. The traditional and awesome poker run takes participants from Les Cheneaux and east toward DeTour. Great cash prizes for the best hands-- the more participants, the bigger the pot! 

 

Noon: Kids Games at the Tent in downtown Cedarville - bouncy obstacle course, carnival games, snowball eating contest and more!

Sponsored by Carmeuse Lime & Stone and Ford’s Cottages. 

 

1:30 pm: Cross Country Ski Tour. Peek-a-boo Trail, West State Avenue, Cedarville (weather dependent) 

 

2 pm: Dog Show – Best trick, best costume and best mastery of the obstacle course. Prizes for winners. Great spectator event! 

 

2:30 pm: Emergency Ice Rescue demonstration on Cedarville Bay – Clark Township Emergency Services Team 

 

5 pm to 7 pm: Poker Run Ends at Snows Bar and Grill, Cedarville! Awards to follow, Pub Shuffle Award Winner announced. 

*NEW* 7:30 pm: LIGHTED SKY LANTERN LAUNCH OVER CEDARVILLE BAY! - starting around 7 pm pick up your lantern at the gazebo near the Cedarville boat launch ramp on Meridian Road. Lanterns are free and designated volunteers will help you light them. Launch will be approximately 7:30 pm and weather dependent. (If too windy, launch will be Sunday night at the same time and location) Sponsored by Northwoods Professional Carpet Cleaning

 

 

Sunday, February 17

12-12:45 pm: Register for the Frosty 5k Run or Walk and 10K Run will start and end in downtown Cedarville. $15 registration, includes lunch—proceeds are a fundraiser for the Cedarville Trojan Booster Club and Snowsfest. Prize for the best “Adventures of the Sea” costume. Race begins at 1 pm.

 

Noon to Dusk: Les Cheneaux Sportsman Open Shoot – outdoor shoot for $9, do not have to be a member to shoot. At Sportsman’s Club east of Cedarville, on M-134. 

 

Noon to 12:30 pm: Ice Hole Two Person Golf Scramble Registration at the Islander Bar, Hessel. Shotgun Start @ 1:00 PM on Hessel Bay. Followed by awards at the Islander Bar. $20 Registration with your Snowsfest Button, Great Prizes Awarded! 

 

3 pm: Birge Preserve Winter Wonderland Dog Walk: join us for a fun, approximate 2-mile winter dog walk. Prizes and great dog socialization on the outstanding Birge Preserve on Point Brulee in Hessel. Parking now available in the Preserve’s new parking lot, and please bring and walk dogs on leashes. Donations to the Friends of the Animals are appreciated.

 

Monday, February 18 - Snowsfest Raffle Drawing at the Les Cheneaux Welcome Center! - Drawing for the Snowsfest Raffle at the Les Cheneaux Welcome Center, 5 pm, Cedarville.
