About Our Chamber
Our Mission
Our mission is to be a catalyst for business growth in the Les Cheneaux Islands and surrounding region, and a collaborative partner for economic development.
Established in 1930, the Les Cheneaux Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit association of local, volunteer, and business members invested in the Eastern Upper Peninsula. From St. Ignace to Sault Ste. Marie to Drummond Island, more than 100 organizations are represented.
We’re excited to continue growing our impact with the addition of a dedicated Chamber Coordinator, focused on supporting member needs and enhancing day-to-day operations alongside our volunteer Board of Directors.
We are also introducing a refreshed Chamber website designed with improved usability and functionality. New features will include a searchable business directory and enhanced navigation to better connect visitors with local businesses and services.
Each Chamber member will now receive their own individual webpage hosted on the Chamber website - providing a valuable online presence, especially for small businesses that may not have the resources to maintain their own site. This gives members a professional platform to showcase their offerings and direct customers with ease.

Jeni Roosen
A Hessel native with deep community roots, Jeni brings over two decades of experience in consumer brand development from her time at Procter & Gamble, where she honed her ability to translate insights into strategies that build trust and genuine connection. She later founded and operated Roosen Adventure Rentals, a motorhome rental business that gave her invaluable perspective on what makes a destination worth returning to.
Today, Jeni applies these same people-centered skills as the Community Program Coordinator for the Chamber and Les Cheneaux Historical Association. She oversees museum operations, manages Chamber membership, coordinates volunteers, and helps tell the story of the Les Cheneaux Islands to the wider world. Organized, thoughtful, and genuinely passionate about the future of this place, Jeni is committed to promoting local businesses while preserving the character and spirit that define our community.

Each year, the Les Cheneaux Islands Chamber of Commerce recognizes an outstanding local business that exemplifies excellence, community spirit, and dedication to the Islands region. This award celebrates businesses that go above and beyond for their customers, their employees, and their neighbors.

CITIZEN OF THE YEAR
Some people show up for their community in ways that are impossible to overlook. They volunteer their time, lend their expertise, and make the Les Cheneaux Islands a better place for everyone around them. The Citizen of the Year award is the Chamber's way of saying “Thank You”.

The Les Cheneaux Islands Chamber of Commerce runs on community spirit and we're always grateful for an extra set of hands! Whether you can spare a few hours for a summer event or you're looking for a longer-term leadership role, there's a place for you here.
Event support
Help with setup, logistics, and day-of operations at events like Snowsfest, the 4th of July celebration, the Harvest Festival, and more.
Board of Directors
Share your skills and perspective by serving in a governance role. Board meetings are held monthly.
